Kirsty Griffin
I love to draw, paint & print, to cut & layer materials, to scratch & pick & re-work things in a process of creation (& destruction)!
I make marks, use collage, & create textures. I explore ideas & my emotional responses to them through these processes, in an instinctual way. Some of these images are cut up & re-purposed through collage, some end up on silk-screens to be used to print textiles, which in turn are cut & layered into new images.
I am inspired by the environment around me, and how nature constantly reclaims it for her own, by symbols, archetypal forms & cultural objects, like chairs, for example & by representations of animals, especially birds, because they can fly!
